Originally from the
lovely Southern town of Clarkesville, Georgia, Natalie Nash
is a singer and entertainer who relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in
February 2004 to pursue her musical interests. Singing and performing
have always been very natural to Natalie because she grew up watching
her parents perform in gospel groups and began singing in church choir
productions and musicals at an early age. While she was in high school,
Natalie and her parents formed a gospel group and sang in local
churches. She soon became interested in musical theatre, dancing, and
playing the trumpet. She played the lead female roles in several
musicals including The Little Match Girl, Give My Regards to
Broadway, Pippin, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat. Having received dance instruction, Natalie was
responsible for choreographing the majority of her solo songs. Natalie
competed in and won several local talent contests and expanded her
musical abilities by becoming involved in the Habersham Central Band of
Blue. She was the first chair trumpet player in the symphonic band and
the head drum major of the marching band. In her senior year, Natalie
was selected by her classmates as the most talented female of her class.
Natalie continued to perform during her
college career at North Georgia College and State University. While
pursuing a nursing degree, Natalie sang soprano in the NGCSU Choir
Ensemble, was the song leader in the Delta Zeta sorority, and was chosen
to sing for thousands of people who attended the 1996 Olympic Torch
Ceremony in Clarkesville, Georgia. Natalie began singing in the United
Community Bank Annual Banker’s Hour, a musical variety show with a usual
attendance of 6,500 - 7,000 people. In addition to performing as a solo
act, Natalie sang background vocals for the other acts in the show.
Although country music is her favorite, Natalie has performed many
different genres of music including gospel, Broadway musical, pop,
Christian, and blue grass. During college, Natalie sang background and
lead vocals in two different country and Southern rock bands. She
performed with a blue grass group and was a featured singer on their
weekly television show, “Roots and Branches.” Remaining true to her
roots, Natalie continued to sing in church and became the leader of the
Nacoochee United Methodist praise band. Under Natalie’s leadership and
the Lord’s will, the praise band created a very meaningful and spiritual
service and produced two praise-and-worship CDs.
Music has even been
a part of Natalie’s nursing career. While employed as a registered
nurse at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, she was known as “the singing
nurse.” Natalie sang to her terminal and very ill patients to give them
hope and encouragement, and she has even been asked to sing at some of
her former patients’ funeral services. The Gainesville Times
wrote an article about Natalie singing to her patients and using her
voice as spiritual healing. Upon moving to Nashville, Natalie
transferred her nursing career to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
She is pursuing her musical interests in Nashville by entering contests
and working on her songwriting skills. She has been the winner of
Nashville Palace’s Live Audition, Crossroads’ Singers
Challenge, The Hotel Preston’s talent contest, and Wildhorse
Saloon’s Sing to Win contest.
Natalie never dreamed that she would meet her lifelong companion and
soul mate, Tepoe Nash, while performing in a singing contest.
Natalie and Tepoe quickly became friends and began performing together
in songwriting events in Nashville. After many fun-filled and
exciting months
of dating, traveling, and performing, Natalie and Tepoe married on
December 9, 2006. Natalie and Tepoe enjoy pursuing their musical
interests together and plan to continue composing, performing, and
recording. They often perform with Natalie's brother, Holcomb
Burke, and Hall of Fame inductee, Wayne Moss from the group Barefoot
Jerry. While aspiring to become a
professional recording artist and entertainer, Natalie ultimately wants
to use the talents God has given her to make the world a happier and
brighter place.
